The Lovely Bones is a very emotion-filled fictional story of the kidnapping and murder of a 14-year-old girl named Susie Salmon, on December 6, 1973. They both are constantly reminded of the memories they shared with their siblings, which made it harder for them to adapt to a new life missing a big piece. DJ’s parents were never really there from then start, and that unfortunately never changed. Lindsey’s parents started to become distant, and she almost became invisible to them and the world around her. Lindsey and DJ find that creating new relationships helps them overcome the struggles and the void they have from the loss of their brother and sister.Īnother similarity is the involvement of their parents after the loss of their siblings. Depression and sadness intrude on their lives, and they find themselves becoming lost. They both start to show the struggles of loosing a loved one in many different ways. They both soon realized that they have to look to other people for guidance as they grow and become mature adults. Lindsey Salmon from The Lovely Bones and DJ Williams from Stomp the Yard, have to learn to grow up with a missing piece in their life and heart. The loss of a sibling in both stories is a similarity shared by both characters. If you liked the movie Stomp the Yard, you would really enjoy reading the book The Lovely Bones. As everyone asks questions, she simply just sits in heaven with each and every answer anyone could ever want. It is painful for Susie to watch her family, friends, and community try to gain evidence to solve the case of her murder with the little knowledge they have about the whole event. Unfortunately all Susie can do at this point is just sit back and watch as everything unfolds. All of this worry and confusion had the Salmon family growing apart, and changing the family that she had come to know. As she now lives on in her very own heaven, she watches her mother Abigail, father Jack, sister Lindsey, and brother Buckley all from above as they try to solve the case that almost seemed impossible to crack. Susie Salmon is a typical fourteen-year-old girl until the day of Decemwhen she was raped and murdered by someone she never expected would harm her.
